Your Actions Matter

  • 2 Corinthians 3:3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
  • Matthew 7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them.
  • 1 Peter 2:11-12 Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
  • 1 Peter 2:15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

What you do in your everyday life matters, whether it’s when someone cuts you off in traffic, someone gossips about you, you hear something from your pastor you don’t like, you don’t get the promotion you believe you deserved, you’re listening to a TV show or movie that’s inappropriate, or how you react in a crisis. Someone is watching you. You are a letter from Christ to the world. What is your life saying?

How to act in accordance with the Word:
  1. Know what the Word says to be able to act according to it. Spend time reading your Bible or listening to it daily. Whatever command you read or hear, put it into practice.
  2. Meditate on the Word, especially areas pertaining to weaknesses in your life. The Holy Spirit can give you revelation and help you have victory in that area.
  3. Spend time with God daily and ask Him to show you things you need to change. His Spirit will reveal things to you and He’ll also use His Word to teach, train, correct and rebuke you (2 Timothy 3:16).
  4. Pray in the Spirit on a daily basis to build yourself up in your most holy faith. You will also develop your spirit and strengthen it. This will make it easier to follow God’s commands and act according to His Word.
