You Are Who the Word Says You Are

  • Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
  • Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
  • Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
  • 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

As a born-again believer, you need to understand who you are in Christ. You were created in the image of God. You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are Christ’s ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:19-20). You are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). You are the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). You are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). You are God’s handiwork (Ephesians 2:10). You are a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20). You are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6). You are surrounded with favor (Psalm 5:12). You are healed (1 Peter 2:24). You are blessed when you take refuge in Him (Psalm 34:8). You are so much more.

How to live in the fullness of who you are in Christ:
  1. Read the Word daily as it reveals who you are in Christ along with all your rights, privileges and obligations. Knowing who you are is not sufficient. You need to meditate on scriptures pertaining to who you are, e.g. more than a conqueror, to change your mindset and become all that you were created to be.
  2. Live for Him daily. Your words, actions, and decisions should be based on the Word and the leading of His Spirit. Being a doer of the Word will establish and confirm who you are in Christ.
  3. Spend time with God in prayer, praise and worship. As you get closer to God, you’ll be more confident in who you are in Christ.
  4. Spend time praying in the Spirit. Develop your spiritual ear to be more aware of the Spirit’s leading. As you listen and obey Him, He will lead you to become all that you can be in Christ.
