You Belong to Him

  • John 3:29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
  • Romans 7:4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
  • Galatians 3:29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We belong to Almighty God. We’ve been bought with Jesus’ precious blood and redeemed from the curse (Galatians 3:13). We are His. We need to live lives that honor Him, that are dedicated to Him. As we do, we can claim our rights and privileges. We are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).

How to live as belonging to God Almighty:
  1. Surrender and submit to God. When you read a command in His Word, obey it. When His Spirit impresses a direction or instruction on your heart, follow His lead.
  2. You have rights and privileges as a son or daughter of God and you must know them to appropriate them and to exercise them. For example, you can hear His voice – John 10:4, 27. This can only be done by spending time in the Word and in communion with our amazing and awesome God. Once you learn of a right or privilege that is yours, appropriate it. Some rights, such as power and authority, must be exercised. Therefore, use what has been given you to succeed and to reign in life.
  3. You are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29). Realize that as a born-again believer you are heir of that promise as well. Abraham was blessed to be a blessing and so should you.
  4. Reflect on Who you belong to and all it entails. Realize that your heavenly Father is the God of the universe and that with Him all things are possible. Therefore, meditate on the fact that you have a covenant partnership with God. When you encounter a situation that you deem impossible, call on your Covenant Partner for wisdom, strategy or whatever else you need.
  5. Honor God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Honor Him in thought, in speech and in action. Crucify the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24). Do the work He has prepared for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). Bear fruit for Him (Romans 7:4).
