Victory Is Yours!

  • 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 But thanks be to God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you…
  • 1 John 3:8 The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
  • 1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
  • Isaiah 54:17 No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.

As a born-again believer, you need to understand that victory is yours. John 10:10 states: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 16:33 states: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” God gives you the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 5:57) and always leads you to triumph in Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14). Jesus has redeemed you from the curse (Galatians 3:13) that fell on man when Adam sinned. Jesus came for you to have an abundant life (John 10:10) and victory is part of that. He came to defeat the works of the enemy (1 John 3:8) and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Greater is He who is in you than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). In the day of trouble he will keep you safe in his dwelling (Psalm 27:5). He lifts you out of the slimy pit and sets your feet on a rock (Psalm 40:2). God is for you so who can be against you (Romans 8:31). Nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:39). Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame (Romans 10:11). He has disarmed the powers and authorities (Colossians 2:15). He is your avenger (Romans 12:19) and so much more.

How to live in victory:
  1. Know who you are in Christ and what He has done for you. Read scriptures pertaining to these truths and meditate on them until they become revelation knowledge. You need to have revelation from the Holy Spirit that the promises of God and your status as a son or daughter of God are not mere words but a reality. Once you accept God’s Word as truth, you’ll be able to see you are starting from a position of victory.
  2. Take the time to read the Word daily as it will teach you, rebuke you, correct you, and train you in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). Let it do its work and course correct you where needed. Apply the commands and instructions in God’s Word in your daily life.
  3. Live a life totally surrendered and dedicated to the Lord so that you’ll know what to do when the enemy sends you a flaming arrow or when a storm arises in your life without warning. If you are faithful to get the Word in your heart, spend time in prayer and praise God/Christ regularly, you’ll have the confidence to win any circumstance that rises up against you.
  4. Know the authority, the weapons and the armor that God has provided for you. Know how to use them. (See the category Spiritual Armor and Weapons)
  5. Believe! If your heart is not established on the truth of God’s Word, it will be hard for you to contend for the victory. Pray in the Spirit to build yourself up in your most holy faith (Jude 20) because without faith it is impossible to please God. If you think you will obtain the victory instead of truly believing it, you are not starting from the position God wants you to. See it from the perspective of being seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). (See topic Essentials for Your Faith Walk.)

Call to action:
Apply the Word to a situation you are facing right now. Look at it from God’s perspective, a place of victory. Declare the Word over it in the Name of Jesus and do not let yourself be denied by the enemy who comes to steal, kill and destroy. Christ paid a high price for you to walk in victory so live in it fully.
