The Word is God-breathed

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
  • Matthew 4:4  Jesus answered, “It is written:”
  • Romans 15:4  For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us…

You need to realize that all scriptures were God-breathed.  That truth needs to be settled in your heart if you are to believe in the Bible or be able to claim and stand on God’s promises.  Jesus so valued the Word that He used it against Satan in the desert.  He said on three occasions, “It is written” to resist the temptations of the enemy.  Jesus knew that God had inspired the Old Testament and He used God’s words to obtain the victory over the devil’s schemes.  In addition, we are told that what was written in the past was written to teach us.  Let the Word teach you.  Obey it and live by its precepts and there will be no doubt in your heart that it was God-breathed.

How to know that the Word is God-breathed:
  1. Use the Word of God as Jesus did and you’ll see its power.  Jesus said: “It is written”, and stopped Satan’s attacks.  When Satan tempted Jesus, He countered with Scripture.  The Word has impact when it is used in faith just as God spoke the world into existence.
  2. Read the Word with an open heart.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word to you and it will speak to you.  It will come alive.  It will teach you, rebuke you, correct and train you in righteousness, so that you may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Call to action:
You need to accept that God inspired the Bible.  Settle any doubt you may have by spending time in prayer and getting closer to God.
