The Word Is an Offensive Weapon

  • Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
  • Ephesians 6:11 and 17  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes… Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  • Matthew 4:4, 7, 10  Jesus answered, “It is written…’

The Word is an offensive weapon.  It is living and active but it must be used in faith to have any impact against the enemy, against your circumstances.  Jesus used the Word when tempted by the enemy by saying “It is written…” .  What circumstances are challenging you today?  What scripture can you use to come against the enemy?  Use the Word in every circumstance where the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy you, your peace, your family, your ministry, your belongings or the works of your hands.

How to use the Word:
  1. When you have a challenge in your life, look up related scriptures to understand God’s promises in that area.
  2. Start confessing the Word over your situation as Jesus did in the desert.  Matthew 4:4:  “It is written.”  Where required, use your power and authority, the Word and the Name of Jesus.  (See topic The Word, the Word, the Word.)
  3. Believe the Word and what you are claiming over your situation (Mark 11:24).
  4. Trust in the power of the Word and the Name of Jesus.

Call to action:
Think of a difficult or unpleasant situation occurring in your life right now and determine to use the Word of God as an offensive weapon against it.  Stand for your victory.
