The Shield of Faith

  • Ephesians 6:11, 16 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes… In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
  • Matthew 17:20-21 …Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • John 14:12-14 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

The shield of faith is meant to protect you. With it, you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. This bears repeating – you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Not one needs to penetrate, if you take up the shield of faith.

Your faith must be in God, in Christ, in His Word, in the power of the Name, in your delegated power and authority as a child of God, and in the fact that Christ has already overcome the enemy. Your faith can move mountains but you must speak to it in the Name of Jesus and believe it will move (Mark 11:22-24).

(See category on Faith)

How to use the shield of faith as a weapon:
  1. Know the Word so you’ll understand what belongs to you as a child of God. This will allow you to refuse those things that don’t belong to you such as sickness, disease, etc. Once you know what you’ve been redeemed from, you can stand with your shield of faith to block out the flaming arrows of the enemy.
  2. Know who you are in Christ and the power and authority that Jesus has delegated to you. (See topic Power and Authority as Weapons.)
  3. Don’t just dodge the flaming arrows hoping they’ll miss you, counter them by using the Word. Speak to your mountain using Scripture and command it to move in the Name of Jesus.
  4. Remain close to God by spending time reading His Word and by fellowshiping with Him. Praise Him and worship Him and it will strengthen you to raise your shield of faith against every negative situation you encounter.
  5. Live a life submitted to God and be led by God’s Spirit. He is the Spirit of truth and knows of things to come. He will share those things that may be coming your way, He’ll prepare you for them, and He can also lead you to raise your shield of faith. If your spirit is sensitive to His leading, He will inform you how to extinguish all flaming arrows.
