Seated With Christ in the Heavenly Realms

  • Ephesians 2:6  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.
  • Colossians 3:1-2  Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
  • Philippians 3:20  But our citizenship is in heaven…

Ephesians 2:6 does not say we will be raised up with Christ and be seated with him, it says we have been.  Believers are therefore spiritually seated with Christ. That means we’ve got a great vantage point in everything we do and everything we go through in life.  We can see it from Jesus’ perspective when we stop seeing it from a worldly perspective.  Jesus kept His eyes on His Father and did what His Father did.  We are also to set our minds on things above and not on earthly things.  Our perspective will change dramatically when we do.

How to live seated with Christ:
  1. Spend time reading God’s Word to understand that God’s ways are different and that what seems impossible to us is possible with God.  When God says we are seated with Christ, spiritually speaking we are.
  2. Read Ephesians 2:6 and meditate on it.  Ask the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of wisdom and revelation) to reveal that Scripture to you.  Meditate on it until you can actually see yourself seated with Christ in the heavenly realms.
  3. Imagine yourself sitting next to Christ when you encounter a situation.  See the victorious outcome and declare it.  Declare Scripture over your situation, your circumstance.
  4. Realize that God’s will is that you would live on earth as you would in heaven, just as Jesus taught us in prayer.
  5. Use the power and authority God has given you where warranted.
  6. Spend time praising and worshiping God.  It will allow you to have encounters with Him, which will make it easier to believe the impossible.

Call to action:
Think of a situation you are experiencing now.  See it with Christ’s eyes as you are seated with Him in heaven.  Can you see how God can do immeasurably more than you can think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)?  Now present your request to the Lord from a position of victory and thank Him for the outcome.
