Redeemed and Made to Reign in Life

  • Hebrews 8:12  For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
  • Ephesians 1:7-8  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.
  • John 10:10  … I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
  • 3 John 1:2 (NKJV)  Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

You are no longer to identify yourself as a sinner once you are born again as your sins are not just forgiven they are forgotten.  You need to understand that you are redeemed.  You are saved.  Jesus paid the price for all past, present and future sins.  You now have His righteousness and grace and these, the Word says, allow you to reign in life through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).  The price He paid at Calvary was not just to give you a ticket to heaven; it was for you to be successful and reign in life.  Jesus came that you might have an abundant life on this earth.  John says it well when he says that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.  When you take care of your spiritual life, you’ll prosper in all other areas.  Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.  If you want to reign in life, give priority to God and His kingdom.

How to reign in life:
  1. Identify yourself as a child of God and not as a sinner.  As a child of God, you are royalty, spiritually speaking.  When the prodigal returned home in Luke 15:20-23, he was given a royal robe (indicating his royalty) and a signet ring (indicating his authority).  God has done this for you as well.  He calls you His son or daughter and He has given you power and authority through the Name of Jesus.
  2. Read the Word to understand who you are in Christ.  There is so much that you have been redeemed from but unless you know about it, you’ll never do what is necessary to obtain what was purchased for you.  It’s really like having 10 million dollars in a bank account and not knowing about it.
  3. Seek the baptism with the Holy Spirit to be empowered for your life as a Christian.  (See topic Holy Spirit Baptism.)
  4. Meditate on the Word.  Joshua 1:8 states:  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.
  5. Know your power and authority and how to use them.  You are not fighting flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).  Put your power and authority into practice to reign over situations and circumstances in your life.  (See the category Spiritual Armor and Weapons.)
  6. To reign in life, continually yield and submit yourself to God.  Be filled with His Spirit all the time.  Be quick to obey Him by obeying His Word and His leading, be determined to walk in love, be quick to ask forgiveness and forgive, and choose humility over pride.

Call to action:
Take the time to read the Word daily to discover who you are as a child of God.  When it says that you are Christ’s ambassador, then believe it and act accordingly.  When it says that God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches, believe it and claim it.  When the Word says that Jesus has given you authority and power over every sickness and disease, believe it and act on it.  (See the category Rights and Privileges.)
