Live a Life Worthy of God

  • Ephesians 4:1-3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
  • Philippians 1:27 … conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:12 …live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
  • 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 With this is mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus paid the price so we can live in freedom and become all that God had planned for us before we were conceived. We have everything we need as children of God to live out the calling on our lives. The first question to ask is do you really want to fulfill the plan and purpose God has specifically for you (Jeremiah 29:11)? If you answered yes then are you willing to do what is required to fulfill that plan? That plan needs to be your goal in life as you want to hear “good and faithful servant” on that day when you stand before Him. To fulfill that plan, you will need to surrender to Him, submit to Him, yield to His leading and follow Him. It’s no longer living for what you want; it’s living for what He wants. The rewards for choosing Him over anything else are heavenly. Are you prepared to do what it takes to live a life worthy of God?

How to live a life worthy of God:
  1. Reverence for the Lord is essential. If you do not see Him as the priority of your life, you’ll never be able to submit to Him and surrender to His plans. Take time to reflect on who God is really for you. Is He just your ticket to heaven, is He someone you love and talk to when you need Him and on Sundays, or is He your God and Father and Daddy whom you delight in and want to serve wholeheartedly? The answer to that question will determine the type of life you’re going to live and if you live a life worthy of God. God wants all of you so let this guide your reflection.
  2. To love God is to obey His commands. The greatest command requires you to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. Reflect on how you live out that command in your everyday life. What do you need to change to make God your priority? (See topics Love Your God with All Your Heart, All Your Soul, All Your Mind, and All Your Strength.)
  3. God also told us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Show others that He lives in you through your actions.
