Jesus Is the Only Healer and Deliverer

  • Mark 16:17-18, 20 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well…. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
  • Luke 4:18, 21 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free…” “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
  • John 14:12-13 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
  • Matthew 12:28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Jesus is the Healer and Deliverer. He alone has the Name that is above every other name and at His Name every knee will bow, in heaven, on the earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:10). Believers are called to cast out demons and to lay hands on the sick in the Name of Jesus. They are only vessels to be used by Jesus to set the captives free. When you ask someone to pray for you, don’t put your faith in them but in Jesus and Him alone. He’s the only Healer.

How to trust in Jesus and Him only as your Healer and Deliverer:
  1. Read the above-noted scriptures and meditate on them to realize what the Word says about healing and deliverance. Believers lay hands and/or take authority in the Name of Jesus and then Jesus and Holy Spirit do their part.
  2. See topic Essentials For Your Faith Walk to understand how you need to position yourself to receive.
  3. If you choose to get a believer to pray for you, put your trust in God and not in man. Believe what the Word says in Mark 16:18 that as hands are laid on you, you will recover. Note that Mark 16:20 says that Jesus confirms His word by signs so He is there with you.
  4. When you understand the power that is in the Name of Jesus and the power and authority that Jesus delegated to you, you can command sickness to go. Your faith has to be in Jesus, in the finished work of the cross over sickness and disease, and in the fact that Satan has already been defeated. At the Name of Jesus every knee will bow.
  5. Stand until you have your victory.

Call to action:
The next time you go for ministry at the altar or you ask a born-again Christian to pray for you, take the time to realize who you’re putting your trust in. Don’t put the burden of responsibility for healing on the person who is praying for you as they are not the Healer. That individual is only a vessel for the Master’s use.
