Jesus Is the Living Word

  • John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
  • Revelation 19:13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.
  • John 4:34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”
  • John 5:19 … the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
  • John 14:9-10 Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father…. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father living in me, who is doing his work.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14). Jesus is the Living Word. His life speaks for itself. He is compassionate, loving, attentive, giving, and sinless. His life and ministry portray the absolute will of the Father as Jesus lived in reverent submission to Him. His life is a reflection of how to live every command in the written Word, the Bible.

How to see Jesus as the Living Word:
  1. Read the Gospels and study them in light of Jesus’ character, behavior, and all He said. Everything He said and did lined up with what His Father said.
  2. Fellowship with Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:9) and worship Him. The more you do, the more the Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus to you. You’ll feel closer to Him as well.
  3. Jesus said that if they had seen Him, they had seen the Father. Let your life shine so that people see Jesus in you. The more you walk in His ways, the more you’ll represent Him to those around you.
