His Anointing In You

  • Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • 1 John 2:20, 27 But you have been anointed from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth…As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:21 He anointed us.
  • John 14:15-17 “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”

You have the Spirit of God living in you (1 Corinthians 6:19). How personal is that! Paul declared the Spirit to be the power in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” Luke 4:14 describes Jesus’ return from being tempted in the desert as follows: “Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.” God loves us so much that His Spirit, His very anointing, lives inside us. You, like Micah (3:8), can say: “I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might…”

How to receive God’s anointing:
  1. The Holy Spirit comes to take up residence in you when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, i.e. become born again. If you have not taken this step yet, take the time to reflect on all Jesus has done for you and confess Him as Lord and Savior today. (See topic Becoming a Child of God.)
  2. Jesus told His disciples to wait for the gift promised by His Father. They would be baptized with the Holy Spirit, which was an empowerment to be His witnesses (Acts 1:4-5, 8). If you’ve never received this baptism, ask the Father for it (Luke 11:13). (See topic Holy Spirit Baptism.)
  3. To continue to walk in His anointing, we need to remain in Jesus and for Him to remain in us, as we can do nothing apart from Him (John 15:5). We are to live lives surrendered and submitted to Him and to obey His commands as identified in the Word.
  4. Love on God lavishly through praise and worship.

Call to action:
Allow His anointing to teach you as you read the Word today. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation.
