Do Good Works

  • Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
  • 2 Timothy 2:21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
  • Ephesians 4:16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Do you realize that you are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for you to do? Think about it. There are things that God wants you to do today for Him. Is your life surrendered and submitted enough to God for Him to use you, for you to hear His leading in your daily activities, and for Him to compel you to your destiny? Jesus had goals so we can conclude God has some for us as well.   Luke 13:32: “‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’” As a child and servant of the Most High God, He has things He wants you to do for Him today. Are you willing to do them?

How to do the good works God has planned for you to do:
  1. You need to know God before you can agree to do His will. God won’t ask you to do anything you can’t do. Spend time with God to understand that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Read or listen to the Word and pray daily. You’ll be more eager to do His will as your relationship with Him deepens.
  2. You need to incline your spiritual ear to His leading. When His still small voice or gentle whisper inside you tells you to offer help to someone, do it. It will always be good if it’s from the Lord and it will always line up with the Word. You need to be an instrument for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work (2 Timothy 2:21).
  3. Let the Word teach you, rebuke you, correct you, and train you in righteousness so that you may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16). As the Word trains you, it will be easier for you to do the work God has prepared for you.
  4. Ask your Father what He needs for you to do for Him. Once you hear, you may want to write it down so you won’t forget.   Obey His directions quickly.
