Build Yourself Up in Your Most Holy Faith

  • Jude 20 NKJV But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…
  • 1 Corinthians 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God.
  • Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
  • Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

(If you’ve never heard about praying in the Spirit, also known as praying in tongues, see topic Holy Spirit Baptism.)

The Word says to build yourself up in your most holy faith and this can be achieved by praying in the Holy Spirit. When you pray in tongues, in your heavenly language, you are speaking directly to God. You are praying the perfect will of God for your life, for a given situation. We are told in Ephesians 6:18 to pray in the Spirit on all occasions. Praying in tongues is powerful and it’s part of the armor of God. Be sure to use this weapon!

How to build yourself up in your most holy faith:
  1. Spend time praying in the Spirit daily but not just a few minutes. Pray for at least an hour to develop your most holy faith.
  2. Pray also with your mind and meditate on Scripture while praying in the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 14:14-15: “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding…”
  3. Seek God with all your heart. Praise and worship Him to enter His presence. Your intimacy and closeness with God will build your faith and trust in Him.
